Cannabis can be enjoyed in many different ways, and one of those ways is by dabbing. To dab, you need a recycler, a banger, and a cannabis concentrate—such as wax or crumble. The banger is what holds the cannabis concentrate dab that you heat, liquefy, and inhale.
What Is a Banger?
Skip Ahead to Topic
Before we get into banger weed, we first need to know what a banger is and how it works. A banger is made of a material that can be safely heated using a torch or a heating coil. Most bangers are made of quartz, crystal, ceramic, or glass. The banger has a male or female attachment connecting to the recycler. The banger should be sealed so that no vapors escape.
Bangers come in different thicknesses and shapes. The thickness and shape you choose are more of a personal preference as long as it connects securely to the recycler and can be heated properly. The thickness of the banger can be anywhere from 10mm to 14mm thick. The thicker the banger, the longer it takes to heat.
What Is Banger Weed?
Banger weed is the cannabis concentrate you put inside the banger to inhale. Banger weed comes in a solid form that is liquefied or melted to form a vapor that mixes with the water in the percolator of the recycler. Smoke is created from the banger and the water you inhale from the mouthpiece of the recycler.
Banger weed comes in the form of a crumble or wax. You place a small “dab” of the cannabis concentrate directly into the banger to heat, liquefy, and inhale. Banger weed often has a higher THC level than cannabis in other forms like edibles or vape pens. Once you know how to use a banger, it can quickly become your preferred method of enjoying cannabis.
How to Use a Banger
You will need a handheld torch, a cannabis recycler, a dabber, and a carb cap to use a banger. Make sure your banger is clean before you get started.
Using your handheld torch, heat the bottom of the banger for a few seconds until you feel the heat coming from the top. This may take several seconds, depending on the thickness of the banger and the torch’s heat. You may also see smoke or steam letting you know it’s ready.
Heating your banger to the right temperature can take many failed attempts. It’s common to heat it too hot on your first try. You know your banger is too hot if the dab of cannabis concentrate turns black as soon as it is added to the banger.
Once your banger is heated, take your dabber and add a small dab of cannabis concentrate to the banger and stir it around slowly so that it melts. As you inhale the vapors through the mouthpiece of the recycler, take your carb cap and cover the banger, continuing to inhale. You can remove the carb cap two or three times during the first hit.
Repeat this process until there is no more liquefied cannabis concentrate in your banger.
Cleaning Your Banger After Each Use
Before we go, we want to include one important step you should always do at the end of each use: always clean the banger.
Once the dab is completely gone and while the banger is still warm, take a cotton swab and circle the banger to remove any residual oil left in the banger from the concentrate. Then take the other side of the cotton swab and clean the walls of the banger so that no oil or residue remains.
Cleaning your banger only takes a few seconds after your last hit. That’s why it’s so important to always remember to clean it after each use. Failing to clean the banger can cause the residual cannabis concentrate to harden. This can make it difficult to clean, which can also cause future dabs to be less enjoyable.
The Bottom Line
Banger weed is a cannabis concentrate that you will add to a bucket-shaped banger attachment that will be heated to liquefy the concentrate into an oil. The vapors from the oil mix with the water in the recycler to turn into smoke you inhale and enjoy after every hit.
